Self-care tools come in many shapes and sizes; sometimes it’s physical, emotional or spiritual in nature.

  • Self-help books

  • Massage

  • Self Expression

  • Spiritual in Nature (Flower Essences, Reiki, Meditation which is both physical and spiritual in nature)

  • Energy clearing work

In fact, I have a self-care basket! It contains different many different tools!

Four of the best self help options that I’ve used successfully to help soothe my own Mind, Body and Spirit are as follows.

Meditation techniques – a fabulous self help tool which greatly benefits overall health and wellbeing. Meditation can aid in the relaxation of the communication system from the brain to the cell to the nerves.

Science has proven that the following are the benefits of regular meditation:

  • Relieves Stress

  • Controls Anxiety

  • Promotes Emotional Health

  • Enhances Self-Awareness

  • Lengthens Attention Span

  • Aids in Digestion

Meditation Techniques

  • Visually-guided meditations - one of my favorites!

  • Candle meditation - focus and attention.

  • Deep Breathing - calming nervous system

  • Crystal - clarity and energy

  • Writing - focus and release

  • Walking meditation - balance and movement

  • Body scanning - self intuition

  • A self healing meditation using either color; breathe work; or aromatherapy - overall centeredness

Self Expression and Creative Energy

Painting with water colors, pastels or oil paints – express your uniqueness through art.

Adult coloring books are all the rage and are a therapeutic way to clear & release excess energy. Improve the area of the mind for creativeness.

Journal writing is a fabulous self help healing tool connecting you with your true essence, your spiritual self.

Find yourself a special journal/diary to write in; something special to write with (can be brightly colored inks or the more traditional black, blue or reds) and make a date with yourself to do some journal writing every morning at the same time (before rising out of bed).

Journal writing has been a self help tool for many years. Many find it, to this day, one of the greatest self help and self improvement tools around – and it costs nothing!

I recommend two journals! Why?

  • Gratitude and Acceptance Journal: these are all the people, experiences and things that you are grateful for in your life and all the energies that you are allowing and accepting within your personal energy field. In this journal you can include all things that excite you, your passions, and your goals within each of your days.

  • Burn Journal: write out your worries, sadness, loneliness, or whatever is playing on your mind. This journal is your pain. This pain pours from the finger tips onto the pages and that is energy exiting the body. This journal you are NEVER to read again! In fact, you are to have a burning ritual. This ritual can be however you want it too look but burn the negative memories and emotions of the past that are not supportive of the person you want to be.

All of these are wonderful self help tools to employ for inner healing, letting go and for creating something new (a masterpiece for your She Shed).

Vibrational Essences

Part of ancient wisdom, vibrational essences are used in healing to assist with the removal of emotional blocks and patterns, as well as resolving issues from past trauma that is not allowing you to live your best life.

Essences are generally in liquid form and can also be used in creams, ointments and oils. They can be combined an aromatherapy oil blends.

Vibrational substances are derived from light (sun, moon etc), healing energy (universal or spiritual energy, prana, Reiki), plants (flowers, stems, leaf, roots), mineral (crystals, gold), environmental (sacred places), or animal.

Examples of essences available (there are many) to explore further as a self help tool are:

Flower, Gem, Angel, Shell, Coral, Sea, Goddess, and Chakra essences. We can also create personalized essences meant just for you.

Body Relaxation

Have you had a massage lately? One of the greatest forms of self-care you can have!

Treat yourself to some bodywork like a Swedish massage. Swedish is a more traditional or western soft tissue type of massage, however if you’re after something a little more unique for healing mind, body, and spirit you could choose:

  • Aromatherapy massage – there’s nothing quite like this one using essential oils for body, mind and spirit.

  • Ka Huna, LomiLomi – gentle, relaxing, soothing and stretching massage (even watching this massage is relaxing)

  • Reflexology – therapeutic hand and foot massage

  • Reiki – hands on energy healing (aligns Chakras)

  • Vichy Shower – warm water is directed over your body, gently massaging it (this is heavenly, especially after a salt scrub).

  • Acupressure – form of bodywork based on Chinese Meridian theory

  • Ayurvedic – part of a traditional detoxification and rejuvenation program of India called Panchakarma – vigorous massage with warm oils and herbs to remove toxins, is calming and balancing, and facilitates profound inner peace.

  • Thai Massage

  • Cupping

  • Hot stone massage – warm smooth stones are applied to the body and employed by the therapist’s hands.

You have control over your Mind, Body and Spirit. It is up to you to take the initiative and find the techniques or methods that bring you to a place of oneness within the universe. Balancing your own personal space in the universe will bring calm and centeredness to other areas of your life.
